York store robber threatens to stab employee

A thief threatened to stab a staff member after he was caught stealing items from a shop in York.

The perpetrator, a man in his twenties, came to the… London On Tadcaster Road Bee 9.15 pm last Wednesday (June 29).

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “He removed several items and threatened to stab a member of staff before leaving.

“Fortunately, there were no injuries during the incident.

“Police are now asking for the public’s help to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“In particular, we are relying on information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who can help us identify the suspect.”

The man is described as:

  • white
  • thin
  • about 20 to 30 years old
  • about 5ft 11in high
  • of short mousy brown hair
  • which was slightly curled on top

He wore

  • a navy colored body warmer
  • a dark colored T-shirt or polo shirt
  • and a few dark sweatpants immediately white line below the knee

The suspect was carrying a dark-colored backpack and a Sainsbury’s tote bag. He arrived on a white road bike with black letters.
