A woman and a man were both seriously injured after a one-sided rollover in Scarborough.
The collision happened around 5:30 a.m. Sunday in the eastern convergence lanes of Highway 401, east of Morningside Avenue.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, the driver hit a wall. The vehicle then flipped over and ended up in a ditch.
Toronto paramedics said they transported a man and a woman to a trauma center.
Schmidt said in a video posted on social media that the female victim suffered “life-changing injuries.”
The collectors east of Highway 401 near Morningside are now closed while police investigate. A reconstruction team from the collision is now on the scene.
Drivers will be forced onto the 401 express lanes, said Schmidt, urging motorists to avoid the area all together.
This closure is expected to last several hours.
Witnesses to this crash are asked to contact the Toronto OPP at 416-235-4981.
