Klein’s first film was Broadway by Light (1958), a vibrant, jazzy document of neon signs in Times Square, which Orson Welles said was the first film to be truly in color. Since then, Klein has made 27 documentaries and three feature films, covering subjects ranging from fashion, sports, music, dance and opera to protest, war and reflections on his own career.
