Before it kicks off next Wednesday (July 6), the organizers of the Mad Cool festival have revealed the full list of stage times for this year’s edition.
Seasick Steve and Alec Benjamin will go head-to-head as the first acts to perform, both on their stages – the titular Mad Cool mainstage and Vibra Mahou stage respectively – at 5:50 PM on Wednesday. Metallica has the longest set of the night – and apparently the entire festival – with a two-hour set from 9:30 pm to 11:30 pm on the Mad Cool stage.
The evening will conclude with Twenty One Pilots and Chvrches, but the latter will perform a slightly shorter set: Twenty One Pilots will go out at 11:35pm on the Madrid Is Life mainstage, while Chvrches’ set will kick off at midnight on the Regio from Madrid stage. Both finish at 1am.
The next three nights will all last an extra two hours, starting a little after 6pm and ending at 3am. The lineup for the Mad Cool stage will feature Tom Misch, Deftones and The Killers on Thursday (July 7) while the adjacent Madrid Is Life stage will welcome Mother Mother, Amyl And The Sniffers, Imagine Dragons and Foals.
This Friday (July 8) Black Pumas, The War On Drugs and Muse will show their stuff on the Mad Cool stage. Alt-J closes the Madrid Is Life phase, after sets from Incubus, Haim and CL. On Saturday (July 9) those spots will be filled by Local Natives, Leon Bridges, Kings Of Leon and Royal Blood, while fans who camped on the Mad Cool stage will see Guitarricadelafuente, Pixies and Florence + The Machine.
Sunday (July 10) offers a shortened route, with no programming on the Seven stage and a cut-off time of 12:30 pm. Jack White will conclude the Madrid Is Life stage, after sets from Nathy Peluso and Princess Nokia, while Peach Tree Rascals, Sam Fender and Natos Y Waor will play the Mad Cool stage. Dueling White as the final acts to play will be La MODA (on the The Loop stage) and Recycled J (on the Amazon Music stage).

The lineup for Mad Cool 2022 was finalized last month, when Incubus replaced Queens Of The Stone Age as Friday’s third headliner. The first announcement came last June, with subsequent drops in October and December.
The festival will run from July 6-10 at the Valdebebas-Ifema event space in Madrid, with the full poster featuring a whopping 152 acts, including 15 headliners. Tickets for the first three days are still sold out, but are still available for the Saturday and Sunday lineups – find them here.
2022 will be the first year to run Mad Cool in five days; It was first launched in 2016 and lasted three days for the first four editions. It was supposed to have expanded to a four-day itinerary in 2020, but that year’s edition was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 iteration was discontinued for the same reason, although most of the artists announced before it were carried over to this year’s bill.
In April, it was announced that two more events under the Mad Cool banner – Mad Cool Sunset and the Andalucia Big Festival – would be launched later this year.
Mad Cool Sunset is a one-day concert on Saturday, September 10 in Madrid, featuring sets from Biffy Clyro, Run The Jewels, Glass Animals and more. Rage Against The Machine will headline both events, while the Andalusia bill – which will run from 8-10 September on Malaga’s Sacaba Beach – will also feature headliners from Muse and Jamiroquai.
