Turkish Defense Minister discusses bilateral cooperation with UAE Chief of Staff

Today, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar discussed bilateral and regional issues and cooperation in military training with UAE Chief of Staff Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi in the capital Ankara.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense and was attended by the Turkish Chief of Staff, Yasar Guler; During which the two sides exchanged views on bilateral and regional issues, defense industries and cooperation in military training.

The UAE chief of staff is visiting Turkey at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Guler, and earlier today Guler received his Emirati counterpart Al-Rumaithi at a military reception ceremony at the Turkish General Staff headquarters in Ankara.

At the end of May, Akar made an official visit to the UAE at the invitation of his counterpart Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bawardi. Akar’s official visit to the UAE was the first of its kind for a Turkish defense minister in 15 years, according to sources at the Turkish Defense Ministry.

At the meeting of Akar and Al Bowardi, it was agreed that the two countries’ chiefs of staff would hold a meeting to increase mutual high-level visits.
