Toronto murder suspect carjacked vehicle to escape: police

Toronto police say a suspect wanted in a deadly shooting that happened Monday night in a North York square was also on his way to an escape.

Officers were originally called to Sheridan Mall, near Jane Street and Wilson Avenue, at about 8:30 p.m. for a shooting.

A man was hit by gunfire as people shopped nearby.

Emergency services tried to resuscitate him, but he died at the scene.

Police say the suspect wanted for the murder then carjacked a Toyota Corolla in the mall parking lot and fled the crime scene.

Investigators say it is black in color with the Ontario registration number CVZW 153.

Anyone who sees the vehicle should not approach it and call 911 immediately.
