Thousands return to Cambridge Strawberry Fair after three-year hiatus from the festival

The iconic Strawberry Fair returned to Cambridge for the first time in three years this weekend for a day of colour, excitement and entertainment. People from all over Cambridgeshire and beyond gathered to dance in the sun at the biggest free music event in the area.

Saturday (11 June) was a day of music, art and celebration. Ahead of yesterday’s event, organizers pledged to focus on “making Strawberry Fair 2022 one to remember” and it certainly looked like they were successful.

Run by volunteers known as the ‘Strawberry Fairies’, the fair welcomed delighted fans back to the Midsummer Common. And this year’s theme was of great importance: ‘Love Our Planet’, focusing on all things environmental.

As one of the most important dates in the Cambridge calendar, residents were delighted to see the event return after it was canceled due to Covid-19 with the last Strawberry Fair being held in 2019. All day long there were celebrations with a smile that everyone saw around!

During the day, a number of brilliant performers take the stage, including Bleedeasy, Strawberry Lace, James White and The Wildfire, Prima Volta, Loae, Vulgarithm, Filthy Mellow, Orchestra and many more. And that’s not all, in addition to a wide selection of music to enjoy, there were also circus performers, community stalls, crafts to buy and lots of delicious food.
