The Teskey Brothers have announced a major line-up change, with the departure of the founding members Liam Gough and Breda love unveiled today.
The band shared the news on social media and confirmed that the group will consist of brothers Josh and Sam in the future. The Teskey Brothers formed a quartet in 2008.
“It has been an honor to work with these guys over the years,” read a statement from Josh and Sam.
“As [the] rhythm section, they were the backbone of the band, holding a tight groove and helping shape our sound. We would like to sincerely thank them for their efforts during this crazy rollercoaster ride.”
The Teskey Brothers will perform as part of ALWAYS LIVE in Melbourne at Palace Foreshore on Sunday 4th December – it will be the last time they play in their current form.
In their statement, Josh and Sam allude to the fact that this decision stemmed from a desire to return to their roots.
“This year we decided to take it back to where it all started, just us two brothers making the music we love, more on that soon.”
The last release from the Teskey Brothers was that of 2021 Live at Hamer Hall record, an album that earned them this year’s ARIA Award for Best Blues & Roots Album.
