Avatar: The way of the water

Originally only played in theaters prior to the screenings of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the first teaser for the 2009 sequel to Avatar hit the web this week.

Considering how wildly successful the first film was and how long it took for its follow-up to be made, The Way of Water has become a fascination for movie buffs.

That said, the sequel looks like it will be worth the wait with the teaser featuring groundbreaking special effects, epic visuals and a beautifully compelling score.

Avatar: The Way of Water hits Irish cinemas December 16.

We’ve written about the trailer for Elvis before, but a clip of it was recently released – letting viewers know a little more about what to expect from the biopic.

The footage shows the legendary singer (played by Austin Butler) taking the stage early in his career, dazzling audiences and drawing the attention of his future manager Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks).

Elvis is co-written and directed by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet) and hits Irish cinemas on June 24.

After his recent stellar performances in The Meyerowitz Stories and Uncut Gems, Adam Sandler has taken on another dramatic role in this Netflix sports movie.

Hustle watches the Sandman abandon his basketball scout, who discovers a once-in-a-lifetime player abroad and takes it upon himself to bring the potential star to the US.

Produced by LeBron James, the film will hit the streamer on June 8.

In this horror thriller, Rebecca Hall plays a woman whose orderly life is thrown into disarray when a man (Tim Roth) returns from her past.

With a rating of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes after its Sundance premiere this year, Resurrection has one of the most puzzling and thrilling trailers we’ve seen in a long time.

It’ll be out in the US on August 5, so you can expect an Irish release some time after that.

Cha Cha Really Smooth

In this comedy drama, writer-director Cooper Raiff (the excellent coming-of-age drama Freshman Year) stars as the host of a bar mitzvah party.

Through his work, he befriends a mother (Dakota Johnson) and her autistic daughter (Vanessa Burghardt).

Another film that premiered at Sundance and received critical acclaim, Cha Cha Real Smooth, will be released on Apple TV+ on June 17.

The princess

After the release of the Oscar-nominated drama Spencer last year, this documentary is yet another movie about Princess Diana – this time telling her story solely through concurrent archival footage.

“By turning the camera back on ourselves, the film highlights the profound impact it had and how the public’s attitude towards the monarchy was shaped, and continues to be shaped by these events,” reads the plot synopsis for The Princess .

From the producers of acclaimed documentaries like Man on Wire and Searching for Sugar Man, The Princess hits Irish cinemas for just one night on June 30.

Resident Evil

Last but not least, we have Netflix’s TV adaptation of the hit video game series Resident Evil.

Told in two timelines, the show revolves around Jade Wesker (Ella Balinska, Charlie’s Angels), a woman who fights to survive in a world overrun by bloodthirsty humans and animals, while haunted by her New Raccoon City past. .

It consists of eight episodes and will premiere on the streamer on July 14.
