Tesla recalls 130,000 vehicles in US due to touchscreen malfunction

Tesla Inc is recalling about 130,000 vehicles in the United States after an overheating problem that could cause its central touchscreen display to malfunction, the country’s automotive safety regulator said Tuesday.

The recall affects all Tesla models made in 2021 and 2022, and the electric vehicle manufacturer will provide an over-the-air software update to resolve the issue, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.

The overheating of the infotainment system’s CPU could prevent the center screen from displaying images from the rear view camera, warning lights and other information, the NHTSA said.

Tesla recalled 48,000 Model 3 Performance vehicles in the US in April due to an issue where the speedometer may not display in “Track mode.”
