Teen killed, man injured in Los Angeles car shooting | California News

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A teenager has been killed and a man seriously injured in a shooting in a parking lot at a Los Angeles store.

Authorities are looking for the suspect vehicle, a dark-colored SUV, but investigators do not know how many people were inside at the time of the shooting Saturday afternoon.

Someone in the SUV opened fire on a light-colored sedan with six occupants in the parking lot of a Target store in the Baldwin Hills area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The 23-year-old driver of the sedan and a 17-year-old boy in the front passenger seat were shot, police detective Nathan Kouri said. The teen died at a hospital and the driver was in a critical but stable condition, officials said.

Four passengers in the back seat of the car, including two 4-year-olds, were not injured, Kouri said.

“We are not aware of any kind of dispute beforehand, verbal dispute or physical dispute, altercation, so at this time the motive is unknown,” Kouri told KTLA-TV.

He said there is no evidence that the attack was gang-related.
