With the knowledge that the X-Men will fully join the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point in the next phase or so, there’s been a lot of speculation about who might be taking over the live-action Wolverine role from Hugh Jackman (assuming that he is really ready) na Logan and cannot be tempted back). Throwing his hat in the ring – albeit in an unofficial capacity – is Taron Egerton.
Talking to the New York Times about his new Apple TV+ series Blackbird, Egerton hinted he would be interested. And he’s even (unsurprisingly given his rising star status and success in other areas of cine) met with Kevin Feige and the Marvel team, though it’s not confirmed what casting ideas may have been discussed.
“I don’t think it would be wrong to say that,” he says. “I would be excited, but I would also be worried, because Hugh is so attached to the role that I wonder if it would be very difficult for someone else to do it.”
Egerton would of course be able to carry out the idea by Jackman himself should he choose to, as the pair worked together in Eddie the eagle†
And despite fears, it seems Egerton is eager. “Hopefully they’ll give me a chance when it comes,” he adds.
Spicy hint? Or cunning deception? You decide!
