So we have good news and bad news – we know that Stranger Things 5 is on its way, but we just don’t know *when* that will be.

At the time of the release of season four, part two, the team had yet to start filming the final episodes, and there was a huge gap between seasons three and four.

Granted, there was that whole pandemic situation they were dealing with, but it still took them the better part of three years to get it on our screens, with season three coming out in July 2019 and season four not starting until June 2022.

However, with the kids getting older by the day (and still having to be seen as 14-year-olds despite hitting their twenties), you can bet the show wants to get into action sooner rather than later.

With this in mind, as well as the astronomical amount of post-production involved, we’d hedge our bets we’ll see Stranger Things 5 sometime in 2024.

Matt and Ross Duffer said in a statement announcing the end of the series: “Seven years ago, we planned the full storyline for Weird stuff† At the time, we predicted that the story would last four to five seasons. It turned out to be too big to tell in fours, but – as you will soon see – we are now flying towards our final. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season five will be the last.

“There are many more exciting stories to tell in the world of Weird stuff† new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. But first, we hope you stay with us as we finish this story of a powerful girl named Elf and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mother, of a small town called Hawkins, and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down. As always, we are grateful for your patience and support.”

If we hear anything more concrete, we’ll be sure to let you know!

While these are enough to keep track of on their own, these are just the good ones! With some of the villains (or at least those of questionable morals) likely to return as well. So yeah expect to see more of Jamie Campbell-Bower as Henry slash 001 slash Vecna slash a big old mean!

Plus, newcomers are likely to be added to the scene as well. As soon as we know more, we’ll let you know.

Expect a tearjerker, folks — according to The Duffer Brothers, the pitch alone made Netflix executives sob over the show’s ending.

“We’ve got a draft for Season 5 and we’ve pitched it to Netflix and they’ve responded well,” said Matt Duffer. the cover† “I mean, it was hard. It’s the end of the story. I saw executives cry that I’ve never seen cry before and it was wild.”

They also compared the last season to: star wars’ Return of the Jedinot in terms of tone, but in the sense that there will be less staged… so basically – full steam ahead!

However, that was sort of a given after the devastating finale of Part 2. The entire town of Hawkins is basically under siege right now, and with not just one but two members down, the gang really has their job for them to move forward.

It seems unlikely that we’ll be seeing any new footage anytime soon – especially considering that filming hasn’t even started yet!

The team is also notoriously private about what’s happening, so they’ll be keeping everything under lock and key for a while.

however, the Weird stuff Gangs have never been the type to completely leave us hanging — and it looks like they have more in store in the coming years.

Check out our interview with the cast above to see their take on a potential spin-off that may or may not be in the works.
