122 km/h in a 60 km/h zone

A man in the Kootenays lost use of his vehicle for a week after being clocked at more than double the speed limit.

In a press release, the Trail RCMP says officers on a traffic patrol at 12:22 p.m. on May 6 observed a 2008 yellow Lotus sports car traveling at 122 mph in a 60 mph zone.

The sports car was driving the 3000 block of Highway 3B, in Trail, BC.

The officer arrested the 54-year-old Montrose man and his Lotus berm for speeding.

He was fined $483 for speeding and the Lotus was impounded for up to seven days.

“Trail RCMP will conduct traffic enforcement as the busy summer months approach. Please watch your speed and be mindful of other motorists in the lane,” said Sgt. Mike Wientowich
