Spider-Man superfan watches film nearly 300 times and sets world record

A Florida man regained his world record for most theatrical performances of the same film after seeing “Spider-Man: No Way Home” 292 times in four months.

From December to March, Ramiro Alanis spent more than hours in a movie theater, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, watching two to five performances of “Spider-Man” a day. He spent 720 hours in a movie theater during that period.

Alanis first set the record when he attended 191 screenings of “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019, but that record was broken by Arnaud Klein in 2021. Mr. Klein saw “Kaamelott: First Installment” 204 times.

Guinness outlined strict parameters for the attempt to set the record.

mr. Alanis was unable to check his phone, fall asleep, or even take a toilet break during the film – 11 screenings were disqualified from his Avengers record when he went to the toilet.

Each ticket was collected as evidence and a theater employee verified that Mr. Alanis had seen the entire film each time.

mr. Alanis estimates that he spent about $3,400 on tickets. The film has grossed over $1.89 billion and is currently the sixth highest-grossing film of all time.
