Shylah Rodden: Melbourne show ride victim incredible performance before crash

The victim of a shocking roller coaster accident already faced death last year after a horrific car accident and only recently learned to walk again.

Ms Rodden, 26, remains in critical condition at the Royal Melbourne Hospital after walking on part of the 350m track of the Royal Melbourne Show on Sunday evening and being hit by a carriage.

It is believed Ms Rodden was trying to retrieve a fallen phone from under the track when she was hit and lifted 30 feet into the air before falling.

Her family says she suffered “horrific” injuries, including several broken bones and brain damage.

It has now been revealed that in January 2021 she was involved in a horror crash in a car that overturned on the western ring road after being plowed into a truck and car.

Local media reported at the time that she was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car onto the road.

Shylah survived the crash, but needed significant rehabilitation to get back on his feet.

Her grueling road to recovery came after another serious car accident in 2019.

Trolls target victim

Trolls have used Ms. Rodden’s troubled past to criticize her father’s Facebook post as his daughter fights for life.

On Facebook, her grieving father Alan Rodden shared a link to an article about his daughter’s plight. Dozens of people responded with messages of solidarity, but one person used the platform to address Ms Rodden’s troubled past.

One woman commented under Mr Rodden’s post: “Don’t feel sorry for this”.

She shared two screenshots from news articles linking Ms. Rodden to cases previously in court. There is no suggestion that Mrs. Rodden has been convicted of any wrongdoing.

Other social media users were shocked by her comments and reacted.

“Have a little heart, keep your comments to yourself,” one wrote.

“Why put this on the dads (sic) post,” wrote another.

The woman later deleted her comment and apologized.

Speaking with the Daily mailMs. Rodden’s sister Caisha said spreading false rumors about the accident was “sad” and revealed that her sibling was “fighting for her life”.

Her sister also confirmed that Shylah was on a break while working at a booth on the show when the tragedy happened.

“Shylah is in critical condition and we won’t know more until later in the day as we will talk to the police and make some eyewitness statements.”

A friend of Mrs Rodden’s told news.com.au that the 26-year-old was “a beautiful, smart, fun, bubbly girl full of life” and someone who “sees the best in people”.

The tragedy for the Rodden family comes in less than two months that they lost Mrs. Rodden’s brother, Jason.

In a social media post, she wrote that her “world was collapsing”.

“Dad sat me down and told me my brother had passed away,” she wrote on July 27.

“He wasn’t just my big brother, he was my best friend, my everything, the person I looked up to and looked for.

“He taught me so much in life, he showed me the difference between right and wrong and he was never afraid to tell me how he really feels.

“It doesn’t feel real. I keep thinking you’re calling me back.”

Mrs Rodden’s father, Alan Rodden, now faces the prospect of losing another child.

He told media on Monday that he was still unsure what to believe about the incident that left his daughter in critical condition.

“There are a lot of stories going around and I don’t know which one is true or if anyone is covering their tracks,” he told the newspaper. Daily mail.

He said his daughter had suffered “terrible” injuries and was fighting for her life.

“The injuries are terrible. Horrible. She has brain damage. It’s the pelvis, her arms, legs, back, neck — there’s almost nothing that isn’t broken,” he said.

“I just don’t understand how the hell so much damage was done. Even the doctors have said they haven’t seen anything as bad as this in a long time.”

While WorkSafe investigates the incident, the Melbourne Royal Show CEO refuses to speculate about the events that led to the young woman’s injuries.
