Saudi, China sign strategic deals, Xi ushers in ‘new era’

Saudi Arabia and China showed closer ties on Thursday (Dec. 8) during a visit by President Xi Jinping on a series of strategic deals, including a visit to tech giant Huawei, whose growing foray into the Gulf region has raised concerns about US security. King Salman signed a “comprehensive strategic partnership agreement” with Xi, which received a lavish welcome in a country forging new global partnerships beyond the West.
