Rupert Murdoch and Jerry Hall Are Divorcing

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch and actress Jerry Hall are divorcing, the New York Times reported Wednesday, citing two individuals familiar with the case.
Murdoch married Hall in March 2016 in a quiet ceremony in central London. The Fox Corp chairman and his former supermodel wife were regular tabloid fodder, chronicling their Spencer House wedding and the elder Murdoch’s 90th birthday celebrations. celebration last year at Tavern on the Green in New York City.
Murdoch’s divorce, his fourth, is unlikely to change the ownership structure of companies in which he has interests, including Fox Corp, the parent company of Fox News Channel, and News Corp Publisher of the Wall Street Journal, the report said.
Murdoch, 91, controls News Corp and Fox Corp through a Reno, Nevada-based family trust that owns approximately 40% of each company’s stock.
Bryce Tom, a spokesperson for Murdoch, declined to comment. A representative for Hall, who is 65, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The billionaire, whose fortune Forbes estimates at $17.7 billion, has built a sprawling media empire with assets around the world. He sold the Fox film and television studios and other entertainment assets to Walt Disney Co in a $71.3 billion deal closed in March 2019.
Murdoch was previously married to entrepreneur Wendi Deng, whom he divorced in 2014 after 14 years of marriage. They have two daughters. He divorced his second wife, Anna Murdoch Mann, a Scottish journalist with whom he had three children, in 1999. He and his first wife, Patricia Booker, a former flight attendant with whom he had a daughter, divorced in 1966.
