Say what you want about the Fast and furious franchise: it likes its men as big and meaty as an arby’s menu† Hence presumably news this week that the series now has one of the biggest new big boys on the market for its upcoming 10th installment, featuring Deadline reporting That reacher‘s Alan Ritchson has signed for Fast X†
It’s a tough decision to criticize, as Ritchson’s blend of charisma, humor and… pure physical presence is the greatest asset that the Amazon series has. The thought of him having an alpha boy-off with Vin Diesel, John Cena (not confirmed for the movie yet, but it would be weird if he†and fellow franchise newcomer Jason Momoa on the new movie sounds really exciting – if also a total nightmare for any poor cameraman trying to fit so much pure profits in a single shot.
(It does not hurt that while great, Ritchson is also arguably not as famous as Vin Diesel, always a plus when trying to navigate the ego-heavy testosterone waves flowing, like an Ax Bode S.pray-scented zephyr, on the sets of these movies.)
Fast X has already encountered at least one major hiccup during filmingas Justin Lin, whose fast five played a key role in transforming the franchise from flashy street racing movies to, in principle, “What if James Bond never got out of his car?”, The shoot departed a week after filming about “creative differences,” reportedly with Diesel. Louis Leterrier, who broke into Jason Statham’s movie making carrier movies before building an eclectic resume that deviates from now you see me to the Edward Norton The Incredible Hulk to that scene where Sacha Baron Cohen and Mark Strong hide in an elephant’s vagina in Grimsbyhas intervened as director of the film.
Fast X is currently slated for a May 19, 2023 release date.
