Police investigate man ‘severely burned’ as jeep catches fire at Dudley Texaco gas station

A man has been seriously injured after his jeep went up in flames at a gas station. The 20-year-old victim suffered severe burns after his car caught fire just after 7 p.m. Thursday (June 2) at the Texaco gas station on Himley Road, in Dudley.

The man is in critical condition in hospital and police are trying to determine the cause of the fire. Police also want to track down the occupants of a VW Golf that was also at the station at the time of the incident.

A spokesman for the West Midlands Police said: “We are appealing for information after a man was seriously injured in a car fire at a petrol station in Dudley last night (Thursday). The 20-year-old was badly burned in the incident, which involved a Jeep at the Texaco gas station on Himley Road just after 7pm.

“He is still seriously ill in hospital today. Detectives are trying to determine the cause of the fire and are trying to identify the occupants of a VW Golf that was also at the gas station at the time.”

A West Midlands Fire spokeswoman said: “There was an aircraft from the Dudley Fire Station present. There was a fire in which a man had suffered burns. The matter was left to the police.”
