Plympton barn goes up in flames with a dozen horses in it


A pony was killed in the fire.

A fire in Plympton has burned down a horse stable, killing a pony, the Plympton Fire Department announced on Tuesday.

The fire brigade received a call around 5 a.m. for a barn fire at 63 Weststraat. When they arrived, flames were through the roof.

Members of the Carver Fire Department, the Halifax Fire Department and the Kingston Fire Department assisted in bringing water to the scene as there were no hydrants in the area.

The fire service was eventually able to extinguish the fire. According to WCVB reporting, the homeowners attempted to rescue the 10-12 horses inside, but one died in the fire. No civilians or firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but is not considered suspicious.
