PAUL STANLEY Says New PANTERA Lineup Is ‘Killin’ It’: ‘DIMEBAG And VINNIE PAUL Would Be Proud’

Paul Stanley has praised PANTERA‘s comeback, saying the band’s new lineup is “killin’ it”.

PANTERA‘s first live performance in over 20 years took place on Friday (December 2) in Mexico’s Hell & Heaven metal fest. Surviving Members Rex brown (bass) and Phillip Anselmo (vocals) are involved PANTERA‘s reformed line-up by guitarist Zak Wylde (OZZY OSBOURNE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY) and drummer Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX).

Earlier today, the KISS frontman took his Twitter to share a photo of PANTERAs Hell & Heaven metal fest appearance and he added the following message: “THRILLED to see Phil, rex and PANTERA back and KILLIN’ it! Bag and Charlie clearly did their homework with love and dedication. PANTERA did shows with us years ago and were fierce and explosive. Others tried, but NO ONE could be them. Dime and Vinnie would be proud. @pantera”.

This was first reported in July Anselmo and Brown would unite Wylde and blessing for a world tour under the PANTERA banner.

The band will headline a number of other major festivals in North America, South America and Europe as well as host some of their own headline concerts. They will also support METALLICS on a massive North American stadium tour in 2023 and 2024.

According to Billboardthe line-up has been given the go-ahead by the estates of the band’s founding member, drummer Vincent “Vinnie Paul” Abbott and guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbottlike Brownwho said last year Wylde would not tour PANTERA if there was a reunion. It’s unclear what caused him to change his mind.

PANTERA plays another show in Mexico this month —Monterrey Metal Fest on December 6 – followed by performances at three o’clock Knot party festivals in South America. There is also a one-time show with JUDAS PRIEST in São Paulo, Brazil and a headliner concert in Santiago.

Back in 2015, Vinny Paul told The Washington Times that his favorite rock and roll memory was of the original KISS queue. He said: “PANTERA was the opening band on the KISS reunion tour in 1997, with all original members. We toured South America with them. We spent three nights in Mexico City, then we had a flight on my birthday, which is March 11, and we were on a flight from Mexico City to Santiago, Chile. KISS was in first class and we were in business class. Halfway through the flight, all four original members of KISS came back to me and sang “Happy Birthday” in four-part harmony. They gave me one ‘Kiss Story’ book. I felt like a 14 year old child. I had tears in my eyes.”

Vinny Paul was buried in a custom “Kiss Kasket” supplied by Gene Simmons and Stanley. The box was presented as a gift Vinnierequest from the family.
