Oslo attack: two dead and several injured in gay nightclub shooting

A shooting at a gay bar in Oslo, Norway last night left at least two people dead and several injured.

Ten people were rushed to hospital, three of whom were in serious condition and twelve others were treated at the scene, police said.

Police were notified of the London Club shooting at 1.15am and arrested the alleged gunman five minutes later, according to vg.no.

Photos showed bloodied clubbers being treated in the street and a long line of ambulances and police cars.

The attack came hours before the planned Pride events in the city.

Police confirmed that they arrested a person near the scene shortly after the incident.

Oslo Police’s Twitter account reads: “Several shots have been fired at a nightclub in the city center… There have been injuries.

“Several people have been shot. Two people have been confirmed dead in the shooting.

“Several seriously injured. The police defined the mission as a PLIVO incident.”

Witnesses said the bar was packed with revelers and between 10-20 shots were fired.

A witness told local media: “I saw a man come in with a bag, he grabbed a weapon and started shooting.”

Norway’s BNN Newsroom tweeted: “Police are asking people in the area to leave, to make way for ambulances.”

Oslo University Hospital has been put on red as a result of the incident, VG reports.

Footage from the scene shows paramedics treating a man with a head injury.

The man cringes as the doctor shifts his hair to reach his wound, causing his face to bleed.

Other images show streets around the club closed off by police cars and ambulances and officers who appear to be searching the area for evidence.

No motive is known at this time.

Police are investigating the possibility that more than one person was involved in the attack.
