The Cyberpunk 2077 train continues despite its rocky protracted launch. Now that the game is over patched in a playable (and enjoyable) state, and DLC is on the horizonit’s the perfect time for Netflix to release that edge runners tie-in anime they offered us a first sight last month during their week-long TUDUM event.

Studio triggerwho produces the series alongside CD Projekt Red and is best known for Promare and Little Witch Academy, revealed the opening titles to edge runners on Saturday during their panel at Anime Expo in Los Angeles. Set to Franz Ferdinand’s “This Ffire”, the opening is a visual feast – as their work often is – and is heavy on the yellow that cyberpunk has become infamously known for† Same as last year’s opening super scammerseverything in the opening just looks and sounds so awesome that you probably won’t miss the opening during the series’ 10-episode first season. And if that doesn’t grab your attention, the series’ soundtrack is provided by silent hills Akira Yamaoka probably will.

edge runners is set in the same universe as the game, and by extension the RPG from Mike Pondsmith and R. Talsorian Games. The anime tells the story of David Martinez (voiced by Zach Aguilar or Demon Killer fame). As a street kid trying to survive in Night City, David chooses to become a mercenary soldier, also known as a cyberpunk. The setup sounds more or less like that of 2077, with David as a real character with history in the world of Night City instead of years 2077 protagonist V, which the player had to create from top to bottom. The series will also focus on a netrunner named Lucy, and the two will inevitably cross paths at some point during the season.

Cyberpunk: Edge Runners will be released on Netflix in September.
