Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday for walking with Narmada Bachao Andolan activist Medha Patkar during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
“A congress leader was seen knocking out a padyatra with a woman who has delayed the Narmada dam project for three decades,” Modi said at a rally in Dhoraji in the state where the polls were to be conducted.
“Ask the Congress when it comes to demanding your vote that you eliminate a padyatra by putting your hand on the shoulders of those who opposed the Narmada Dam. What would have happened if the Narmada Dam had not been built,” Modi said.
Gujarat goes to the polls in two phases on December 1 and 5 with vote counting on December 8 along with that of Himachal Pradesh. Out of a total of 182 parliamentary seats in Gujarat, votes will be cast on December 1 for 89 seats and for the remaining 93 seats on December 5.
