McDonald’s jobs: Macca’s hires 14,150 new employees across Australia

One of the country’s largest fast food chains is on the hunt for thousands of new recruits as it embarks on a major recruiting campaign just in time for the summer holidays.

McDonalds is currently looking for baristas, hamburger flippers and chip fryers to fill the more than 14,000 positions available in the nation’s 1,025 locations.

Restaurants in New South Wales are looking for the most employees, with 4,800 spots to fill. Victoria follows closely with 3700 vacancies, while Queensland and Western Australia together have 4350 vacancies up for grabs.

Roles are also offered in Tasmania and the ACT, with 150 spots available in the state and territory.

While most positions are front and back-of-house positions, the Golden Arches are also looking for delivery, management, and maintenance workers.

The recruitment wave comes after the hospitality giant released its ‘Make Mates at Maccas’ campaign, which aims to entice employees of all ages to join the company that has been formally recognized as an Employer of Choice for four years in a row.

The range of positions also comes with flexible working hours, with both day and night positions advertised.

“We are looking for an enthusiastic crew to join the team of our (restaurant location) McDonald’s. We have a variety of positions available, including customer service and food preparation functions,” each job description begins.

Most positions require little experience meaning almost anyone can apply for crew member positions as long as they have full employment rights to work in Australia.

The job posting states that successful candidates are candidates who are well presented, able to work in a fast paced environment, have a passion for delivering a high level of customer service and enjoy working with a team.

“Hospitality and retail experience is not required; we provide comprehensive training to all our employees, including barista training for candidates interested in joining our McCafe team.”

As for the benefits of working at Maccas, it doesn’t stop with meeting new people and gaining hands-on experience.

Successful applicants qualify for the restaurant’s employee discount scheme, which allows employees to purchase McDonald’s products for 20 percent off the listed price.

In addition, as part of the MyBenefits program, employees are entitled to product discounts at more than 1,000 retailers, including JB Hi-Fi, Coles and Myer.

There are also opportunities to grow within the team with a number of supervisor and management positions available to those with leadership skills.
