He’s usually the happiest contestant in the MasterChef kitchen, but in tonight’s episode, fan favorite Aldo bursts into tears over a tragic, personal story.
Chef fan favorite Aldo Ortado is seen collapsing while sharing a heartbreaking personal story on Sunday night’s episode.
Loved by viewers for his charisma and energy, the bubbly Italian chef cooks up an octopus dish during tonight’s elimination challenge, which evokes memories of his childhood with his now-estranged father.
“This is something that is very close to me, it just brings me back to a happy time in my life. Where I had a happy family,” Aldo says in a piece for the camera.
He then tells judges Jock Zonfrillo and Andy Allen that it reminded him of “going to Christmas Eve markets with my dad.”
Aldo, who first appeared on the show in Season 10, then revealed that he has not spoken to his father since his 2020 marriage to his current husband, Mark.
“My last time back home in Italy was before my wedding. And then my father decided not to show up at the wedding because he thought it was a circus,” Aldo said tearfully.
‘Then I cut him off. I removed him from my life.
“But I still want to remember that part of me was happy.”
Meanwhile, Channel 10 has shared tonight’s episode and one of the biggest names sees the Chef kitchen.
It teases: “The most dramatic elimination yet.”
This year for its 14th season, the long-running show introduced a new format called “Fans & Favorites,” with 12 former contestants, including original winner Julie Goodwin, returning to the kitchen to join 12 new faces.
MasterChef Australia airs tonight on Channel 10 at 7.30pm
