Marvel’s TV company just got a little smaller, just like their animated series MODOK won’t be back for a second season. In the stop-motion show, Patton Oswalt played the lead role big headed Marvel baddie in a comedy series about him balancing his somewhat normal life as a suburban family man in the midst of a divorce with that of a supervillain striving for world domination.

Variety broke the news on Friday; the series premiered on Hulu in May 2021 and received solid reviews and with Aimee Garcia, Ben Schwartz, Melissa Fumero and Nathan Fillion in the voice castOriginally the MODOK show would be the character’s attempt for a big break after doing before been a recurring villain in previous Marvel cartoons, no to mention that at some point he would become the villain in Freeform’s attempt at a New warriors to show† Back in 2019, MODOK was one of four animated Marvel series to be green-lit by Hulu, with the hopes that the shows would cross over for a long time to come animation special called “The Offenders.” But two of the shows, Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler, were canceled before they could air, while MODOK and hit monkey managed to let it go.

Currently, hit monkey is the final holdout of Hulu’s Marvel shows, but according to Variety, it doesn’t sound like it has very good chances of securing a second season. When official confirmation comes, it will mark the end of another era of Marvel TV, albeit a significantly shorter time and not as fanciful as the Netflix or ABC series† Soon, the only way to get your Marvel fix from the comfort of your living room will be through your Disney+ account, or rather, your friend’s Disney+ account. The MCU has a varying selection of miniseries, from WandaVision until Moon Knight and armor wars, while the old vintage shows like Agents of SHIELD and daredevil got to the platform on time. Whether Hulu’s two Marvel shows will stay on their home streamer or jump to Disney remains to be seen.
