Love Island’s Liam Llewellyn LEAVES the show after just four days

Love Island contestant Liam Llewellyn has left the show after just four days, MailOnline can reveal.

The student, 22, from Wales told the producers he was not enjoying the experience and felt his place in the series should be offered to someone else.

On Friday’s show, Liam breaks the news to his fellow islanders, including former partner Gemma Owen, 19, who is now linked to Italian bombshell Davide Sanclimenti, 27.

The cast is devastated by Liam’s departure, having already become a beloved member of the group.

In dramatic scenes to be featured in Friday’s episode, Liam gathers the islanders around the fire pit and lets them know why they’re stopping.

A source told MailOnline: ‘It was so unexpected, with only a few days into the series, an islander has already walked out of the villa.

“Liam felt that his place on the show should be offered to someone who would enjoy the experience more, which is admirable.”

Viewers on Thursday voted for Liam to go on two dates with newcomers Afia Tonkmor, 25, and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, 27, after being left the only single in the villa.

He teamed up with Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma on the first day of the show, but the dressage champion was stolen from him by Davide.

Liam previously hinted that being alone in the villa would be his worst nightmare.

Commenting on the first pairing ceremony, Liam said: “Everyone wants to feel wanted, don’t they, so I’ve now put myself in a position where I couldn’t be wanted and it will all be like that.

‘Probably not desirable with a reconnection or something like that. Nobody wants to be the last, nobody wants to be the last.’

Earlier this week it was revealed that Liam also has a famous father, Welsh rugby star David Llewellyn.

The scrum half, 51, was part of the Wales 1999 World Cup in Japan and was also featured in the Five Nations tournament.

He won four caps for his national team, scored once and also made the bench 12 times.

The Welsh international played his club rugby for Ebbw Vale, Newport and Neath.

Before the series started, David said his son hadn’t even signed up to go to Love Island.

He said, ‘When he first called me, he said to speak to me.

“I asked if everything was okay and he said the Love Island crew had contacted him – he hadn’t even applied – about an interview.

He’s been to London a few times and it must have been obvious because now he’s on the show.”

Liam’s departure is the fastest in Love Island history.

Past contestants Niall Aslam and Sheriff Lanre who appeared on the show in 2018 and 2019 dropped out after nine and seven days, respectively.

In Love Island’s first-ever winter series in 2020, Ollie Williams also left after three days, claiming he still had feelings for an ex-girlfriend.

However, his time in the South African villa was overshadowed by reports of his animal hunting.

He will be missed: Liam's departure is fastest in Love Island history after previous contestants Niall Aslam and Sheriff Lanre, who appeared on the show in 2018 and 2019, quit after nine and seven days, respectively.
