It was a mass exodus for Gray Sloan’s medical professionals in Grey’s AnatomySeason 18 Final† Bailey retired, Webber went on sabbatical, the… residents were orphansand Teddy and Owen were on the run from the police† For all the doctors we saw leave the hospital, someone has to take their place, right? a former Grey’s Anatomy The actress recently spoke about the possibility of her character returning in the upcoming season, and it’s someone fans are definitely hoping to see more of.
Kate Walsh, whose character Addison Montgomery was fervently introduced in the season 1 finale in 2005, talked about the “possibility” of a return in season 19. Walsh appeared in three episodes of season 18, and while things didn’t go the way she hoped with her uterine transplant patient, things didn’t go it seems not that her storyline was ordinary about† Is there any chance that Addison can return to help Meredith run the hospital? Walsh told Showbiz cheat sheet†
It sounds like there’s still something in the air about whether and how Kate Walsh will fit into the Season 19 plan, but it’s encouraging that talks are underway. Addison’s presence last season caused so much of the instant classic elevator scene as she was faced with the reality of Derek’s death (and then met his children!) to give Amelia the sisterly love she needed end one relationship and start another† She also seemed to be both the voice of reason and the comedic relief around the hospital that everyone loved Meredith wants to move to Minnesota†
Kim Raver similarly gave vague answers about what season 19 means for Teddy and Kevin McKidd’s Owen, who resigned and went on the run after Bailey learned that Owen had drugs stolen from the hospital to help terminally ill veterans die. Raver said she hopes their story doesn’t end like this, and with her and McKidd both under contract for another season, I think it’s safe to say they’ll be back – despite McKidd takes on other projects†
Meanwhile, Webber (James Pickens Jr.) decided to take a sabbatical with his wife, after… Catherine’s cancer went back into remissionand Bailey (Chandra Wilson) — who was way too close to another heart attack all season – quit without notice and leave Meredith with the keys to the kingdom she tried so desperately to leave† Add to that the fact that all the residents were orphaned after their surgical program was halted, and we can really see what Kate Walsh is talking about when she says season 19 will feature “new beginnings” and “many changes.” I participate!
