Ley says shadow box ‘matches experience’ with ’emerging talent’

Deputy Liberal leader Sussan Ley says the new shadow cabinet will match “experience” with “emerging talent” after unveiling the opposition front seat on Sunday.

“The whole shadow box makeup is very strong, it’s very dedicated,” she told Sky News Australia.

When asked what kind of message the Liberal Party hopes to send through these appointments, Ms Ley replied that “we continue to listen to the issues that matter to Australian women,” and “our shadow cabinet reflects the diversity of the community”.

“We have lost votes from women and I have quite frankly admitted that,” she said.

“It’s important…to recognize where we may not have strongly represented women’s issues and to present our shadow cabinet and a new agenda as we develop it in the future.”
