Today, Tuesday, Kiev responded to the preliminary results of the referendums on the annexation of four Ukrainian regions to Russia.
“This will not affect our policies, diplomacy or actions in the military field,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said at a joint press conference in Kiev with his French counterpart Catherine Colonna.
Earlier today, Russian news agencies “Ria Novosti”, “TASS” and “Interfax” reported that authorities in each of Ukraine’s four regions confirmed that support for Russia’s accession reached 97% to 98% of the vote, after counted between 20% and 27% of the votes.
News agencies also quoted Russia’s Election Commission as saying that preliminary results of the referendums show strong support for the annexation.
Referendums on Russia’s accession began last Friday in Luhansk and Donetsk in the east, and Zaporizhzhya and Kherson in the south.
