Kerry Owen: Woman found dead in Hopwood country road named as man charged with murder

Police have named a woman who was found dead on a country road Friday, Kerry Owen. The 35-year-old’s body was discovered on Wast Hills Lane in Hopwood, Worcestershire, by a dog walker.

One man has been charged with murder, while another is also under investigation in connection with her death. A police cordon has been set up in Wast Hills Lane since the alarm was raised at 6am by the dog walker on Friday.

Photos and video footage show teams of specialist West Mercia police officers continuing their search for the lanes earlier in the day. Wast Hills Lane has since reopened.

A statement from West Mercia Police late Monday night read: “A woman who was found dead on Friday 27 May on Wast Hills Lane in Hopwood, Worcestershire, has been named as 35-year-old Kerry Owen.

Alan Edney, aged 30, of Kenilworth Road, Birmingham, has been charged with her murder and has been remanded to appear before Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 31 May.

“A 51-year-old man arrested on suspicion of aiding an assailant has been released under investigation.”
