- Johnny Depp blamed Amber Heard for poop found in their bed after an argument.
- Heard blamed her dogs, but Depp said they weighed 4 pounds each and couldn’t produce that much.
- The poop mystery also surfaced in Depp’s earlier UK lawsuit, which he lost.
Johnny Depp in his lawsuit affidavit on Wednesday blamed Amber Heard for feces found on their shared bed after an argument in which he said he left her, adding that his ex-wife’s statement to blame her dogs was absurd. .
“My first reaction to that was to laugh,” said Depp, who described the reaction upon seeing a photo of the stool. “It was so out there, it was so bizarre and so grotesque that I couldn’t help but laugh.”
Depp filed the lawsuit against Heard in March 2019, accusing her of defaming him in a Washington Post op-ed describing herself as a victim of domestic violence.
Depp claimed that Heard instead physically and verbally assaulted him during their relationship, culminating in the fight after a dinner for Heard’s 30th birthday on April 21, 2016 at one of their shared penthouse apartments in Los Angeles.
Depp testified on Wednesday that it was after that celebration when Heard fought Depp and later defecate on their bed.
Heard has denied and counter-charged the allegations, and has documented at least 10 cases in court files where she says Depp physically abused her, often in what she described as tantrums from alcohol or drugs.
At the booth Wednesday, Depp said he was more than an hour late to dinner because of a meeting with his financial advisers. His accountants and business manager said “an excessive amount of money had disappeared from his accounts” and that Depp was in worse financial shape than he thought, Depp testified.
“After working in the industry for 30 years, I was quite shocked when I learned exactly where I stood financially,” said Depp.
Depp testified that he texted Heard to tell her he was late to the party. In response, Heard said to get wine and weed before arriving, he said.
After dinner, he said, Heard flew into a “verbal barrage” for being late and for other alleged contempt. Depp said he didn’t hang out with her. He testified that when she hit him, he grabbed her by the shoulders, set her on the bed, and told her he was leaving.
“I said I was leaving, please don’t follow me,” Depp said.
He testified that Heard repeatedly punched him in the face when he tried to leave, but ended up leaving her in the apartment as he fled to his Hollywood Hills home.
Knowing Heard would be leaving for Coachella with her friends, Depp believed the next day would be a good time to return to the penthouse and pick up his personal belongings, he said.
But when he told his bodyguard Sean Bett to drive him there, Bett told him it was a bad idea, Depp testified.
Bett showed Depp a photo his housekeeper had sent.
“It was a photo of the bed, our bed,” Depp testified. “And on my side of the bed was human feces.”
‘They’re Teacup Yorkies’
Depp didn’t see Heard again until May 21, he testified. It was the day after his mother, Betty Sue Depp, passed away. Depp said the death helped him reassess his life and decide that he wanted to formally file for divorce and end the 15-month marriage.
According to Depp, Heard blamed the fecal incident on Pistol and Boo, her two dogs — a statement Depp said he found ridiculous.
“She brought up the stool on the bed. She was trying to blame the dogs,” Depp said. “They are teacups Yorkies. They weigh about 4 pounds each.”
“I lived with those dogs. I picked up their funk. It wasn’t the dogs,” he added later in his testimony.
The source of the bed poop also emerged in Depp’s 2020 defamation lawsuit in the UK against a British tabloid, which described Depp as a ‘wife beater’. Heard claimed that Depp showed up late to the party, beat her, and then left. Depp said that never happened and he believed Heard or one of her friends was pooping in their bed.
Depp ultimately lost the British case. The judge ruled it was unlikely that Heard or any of her friends had pooped on the bed because “Mrs. Heard probably was bothered by the stools on the bed, not him” — even though they had several apartments on the same floor — and there was evidence that one of the dogs, Boo, “did not fully control her bowels after accidentally consuming some marijuana.”
On May 23, 2016, before Depp could file for divorce, Heard filed a restraining order against him and initiated divorce proceedings. She said he assaulted her and added photos of her bruised face to the files that went viral. Depp said he was taken aback when he promoted his new “Alice in Wonderland” movie in Europe. The divorce was finalized in January 2017, which, according to Depp, included a $7 million payout to Heard.
Depp insists the bruising incident was made up.
“I was 20 feet away. She was still on the couch. And then the screaming started,” Depp said.
He said Heard started yelling, “Stop hitting me, Johnny,” before his bodyguards Jerry Judge and Bett entered the room.
“She seemed quite surprised and said, ‘That’s the last time you hit me,'” Depp said. “And then Jerry said, ‘Let’s just go, boss.'”
