Inside the Beltway: The Cost of a Biden Breakfast

Yes, there are some shocked faces in the grocery store these days as shoppers experience sticker shock at the cost of familiar items serving as a kind of daily reassurance that everything is fine. Like breakfast for example. When did our much-adored bacon start costing more than $7 a pound?

Needless to say, the price hikes during President Biden’s term in the White House have been staggering. In case you’re wondering, here are the percentage increases for classic American breakfast items, according to the Consumer Price Index, released some 72 hours ago by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The price of eggs has increased by 32.2%, bacon and sausages have increased by 15.6%, coffee by 15.3%, milk for the coffee (up 16.9%), sugar or a substitute sweetener for the coffee (9.3%), juice of any kind (11.8%), bread (8.7%) and butter or margarine for the toast (20.2%).

And for those who can’t live without it: the price of coffee cake and donuts has risen by 10.6%. And oh yeah – that fresh grapefruit is up 16.1%.

BLAME IT TO PUTIN

In the meantime, President Biden refers to inflation as “Putin’s price hike”.

According to Mr Biden, the Russian President Vladimir Putin seems to be the reason why inflation is currently spiraling out of control, at least according to Mr Biden.

“Today’s inflation report confirms what Americans already know. Putin’s price hike hits America hard,” the president said during a performance in the port of Los Angeles on Friday.

“While President Biden tries to blame the ‘Putin price hike’ on rising costs, most voters are not buying it, especially since inflation and rising gas prices started long before Russia invaded Ukraine,” he wrote. Nate Ashworthfounder of ElectionCentral.com, an agile news site.

“It’s impossible for Biden to pretend it’s not happening or it’s all Putin’s fault. Biden’s price hike is undeniable and an anchor around the neck of every Democrat walking in 2022,” Ashworth said.

IN A HOLDING PATTERN

As expected by fans of former president Donald TrumpWhile in office, the White House rejected its proposal to repaint Air Force One in a patriotic color scheme of red, white, and blue.

That rejection brought immediate coverage from Politico, CNN, NBC, the Wall Street Journal and other news organizations. But wait, there’s more.

The Air Force is currently in the process of replacing its current pair of presidential aircraft with two modified and improved Boeing 747-8 aircraft. It’s complicated, of course, and subject to “planning risks,” according to a comprehensive 252-page report on U.S. military weapons systems by the Government Accountability Office.

There are multiple delivery delays and challenges, including the installation of 200 miles of specialized wire on each aircraft. Then there’s this:

“Boeing is facing limitations in the aircraft mechanic workforce due to a competitive job market, VC-25B officials said. They said an additional restriction is lower than the planned approval rates for security clearances for skilled workers needed to modify the aircraft,” the report advised.

NO PARTY FROM YOUR PARENTS

So what about democratic politics and the outspoken democrats at the moment? The word ‘unknown’ comes to mind.

“You listen to what they say, you watch what they burn and protest, you feel the economic pain and you realize this isn’t your parents’ Democratic Party. We now have liberal, democratic cities like San Francisco recalling the crazy left-wing prosecutors because the current Democratic Party has gone too far,” advises Saul Anuzisformer chairman of the Michigan Republican Party and now commentator and advisor.

“You now have mothers, parents and grandparents leading bourgeois revolutions in school board meetings and local elections as the mad liberal Democrats push and impose their policies on mainstream America. You now have girls and young women standing up for their rights to compete fairly in sport and go to the toilet in peace,” he continued.

“The crazy left of the Democratic Party is in charge, and they’ve gone too far. Elections have repercussions and we’ve felt it on the streets of Minneapolis, Chicago, Seattle and elsewhere as our cities were burned by “leftists” who used the system to become millionaires,” he said, citing an increase in crime. especially after attempts at liberal efforts to “unburden the police” and other factors.

“This is not your parents’ Democratic Party – and the voters have had enough,” concluded Mr Anuzis.

ANOTHER MAHER MOMENT

Those who follow HBO’s traditionally liberal host Bill Maher got yet another indication that he has some conservative leanings. Here’s what Mr Maher had to say during a discussion about “media bias” and the attempted attack on the Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh

The host was concerned that the New York Times had buried this story on page 20 of the A section.

“The New York Times buried this,” Mr. Maher told his audience. “If this had been a liberal Supreme Court judge coming to murder someone, it would have been on the front page. And that’s what’s so disappointing about a newspaper like The New York Times. Because they wear their bias on their sleeves. And if it’s not part of something that feeds our story, they say ‘[expletive] it, we bury it.’”
