Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton says every pro on the show desperately wanted her partner Gorka Marquez to win
Presenter Helen Skelton has said the dancers on the BBC One show were keen for Gorka Marquez to win after making it to the final three times.
The professionals would support Marquez, but the public crowned wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin as the winner.
The Countryfile star revealed on her Radio 5 show alongside Marquez that her professional partner was backed by all to take home the Glitterball trophy.
She said: “Every pro on the show was desperate for him to win and that says everything about him. He’s my hero of the week.
“Obviously we are very happy for Hamza as he has put in some great dances throughout the season.
“But Gorka and I, our reaction, you could see how upset we were.”
Marquez added, “I wasn’t furious, but I wanted Helen to end the season with the icing on the cake,” after fans speculated he was “furious” at the result.
“I was happy for Hamza and Jowita, they were great.
Marquez, 32, and Skelton, 39 made it to the finals alongside Fleur East and Molly Rainford.
The pair had topped the leaderboard several times during their time on the show, as the former Blue Peter host previously said she “found her confidence on the dance floor”.
Some Strictly fans fear Marquez will leave the show after making three finals and not being crowned the winner

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts after seeing other celebrities rush to congratulate winner Yassin as Marquez looked upset.
One viewer said: “I’m calling it now. Gorka will stop Strictly for next year.”
Another added, “Gorka will stop,” as a third said, “Gorka looks like he’s about to whack someone on Strictly.
