Heavy snow damages trees as Nor’easter hits New York

Time-lapse footage from Apalachin, New York, shows how heavy snowfall from the late northeast of the season brought down large tree branches outside a home early April 19. Footage captured by Ron Murphy shows snow starting to fall outside his home in Apalachin from Monday to Tuesday. Snow begins to cover the ground from about 10pm with drooping tree branches until one is seen to be knocked down by the weight of the snow around 4am. Daytime footage shows a layer of snow on the ground as massive tree branches lean against the side of the house. NWS Binghamton had issued a winter weather warning for parts of New York state Monday night. New York Governor Kathy Hochul said in a statement that 195,000 homes lost power as a result of the northeast, leading to power outages and up to 11 inches of snow in New York state.
