Gabby, Rachel’s ‘Bachelorette’ Season Filmed on a Cruise Ship

The countdown has begun for season 19 of the bachelorette — and fans finally get answers about how Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia joint journey will work.

former Bachelor Nick Viall shared insight he learned about production on a recent episode of his podcast “Viall Files”.

“I’ve heard it will be very different. And it will have a paradise feel,” said the 41-year-old host, referring to the Bachelor in Paradise spin off. “It’s on a cruise ship — part of it. I asked people because it sounds like the producers think it’s going to be really interesting, but very different.”

ABC has previously stated that Gabby, 31, and Rachel, 26, will not be “pitched against each other” as leads, a sentiment Nick confirmed.

†[But] if it fails, as if, say, was Gabby, feeling it with ‘Frank’. ‘Frank’ could be like, ‘Rachel, sup?’” he explained. “There’s a bit of, options, right? And the thing about Paradise that makes it different is that people have options.”

When the group hit the water, things didn’t exactly go smoothly behind the scenes, according to Nick.

“They said it was hell to film because they decided at the last minute to have two singles. So the schedule was for one bachelor. They had to put everything in it,” he claimed. “And then I asked, I’m like, ‘What if it goes really well, like, this is a hit?’ … The people I talk to hope they never do it again. Just because of the logistics. I think a cruise ship was probably the challenge.”

He kept saying how he thinks the girls who date the same guys will work. “I got it early on, they’re going to divide the men very much, like, each will basically… [have] their respective season,” Nick said. “It would be like two friends going to a bar and after the first night they just decide — or go to a party and say, ‘Who do you like?’ And they just kind of decide. I think they really try their best not to pit two women against each other.”

After appearing on Clayton Echardthe season of the bachelorettehost Jesse Palmer announced to After the last rose in March that Gabby and Rachel would both have a shot at love.

“I am so happy for her. It really is me!” Rachel at the time. “It’s crazy. This is insane and I’m excited to take this journey with you. We did it together once. We had the most crazy experience together.”

Gabby added: “I’m a girly girl through and through, so having a friend by my side is the best I could wish for.”

the bachelorette partyreturns to ABC Monday, July 11 at 8 p.m. ET.
