Frontal collision in Rivière-Rouge leaves one person in critical condition

A head-on collision between two cars Sunday afternoon in Rivière-Rouge in the Laurentians has left one person in critical condition, provincial police said.

Each of the cars was carrying three occupants when the collision occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Highway 117.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, one of those occupants suffered serious injuries and their life is in danger.

Local firefighters had to use hydraulic pliers to free the occupants from the wreckage of the cars. Highway 117 was closed in both directions to allow accident investigators to investigate the site.
