The Energy Bill Buster program will be handed over in Treasurer Matt Kean’s upcoming state budget.
Households receiving energy discounts can raise their hands for a free solar system or for energy-saving upgrades to home appliances.
The latter option will be available to renters and those in homes that are not suitable for solar installations.
Prime Minister Dominic Perrottet said approximately one million NSW households will soon be eligible to participate in the program.
According to government figures, the solar system could save a household up to $600 a year, rather than the $285 annual household discount on low-income households.
