Fox News host Tucker Carlson has criticized US politicians for dutifully clapping along as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky begged a joint session of Congress to supply him with more guns. “Almost as they should,” he added. the vast majority of the American political class indicate that the supposedly “bitter” disagreements between Democrats and Republicans are mainly for show, Carlson suggests. “Now there are 435 members of the House of Representatives, and they are Republicans and Democrats. While nearly all of the Western press reported Zelensky’s visit to DC with extreme reverence, the host of America’s top-rated cable news showed US politicians being relentlessly mocked for their subservience to the “foreign dictator.”
“Almost everyone in the room clapped like a seal,” Carlson told viewers of his nightly show on Thursday. “So whatever happens [Zelensky] said – Send me more money; I command you, send me more money; we take care of it in the most responsible way – they all applaud.
“Almost as they should,” he added.
The almost identical response from the vast majority of the American political class indicates that the supposedly “bitter” disagreements between Democrats and Republicans are mainly for show, Carlson suggests.
“Now there are 435 members of the House of Representatives, and they are Republicans and Democrats. And it is known that they do not get along. They don’t agree on anything,” Carlson said. But “when a foreign leader in cargo pants shows up to tell them lies and give them orders, they all applaud.”
“Oooh, yes, good point,” laughed the Fox News host in his monologue, denouncing the enthusiastic response from the US political elites. “Good point, sir! Oooh, we’re so glad you’re here! Throw your foreign flag on stage and we will applaud more!”
“This is what it really looked like last night: you have to clap, you could get in trouble if you don’t clap, so everyone just claps — all the time,” Carlson added. “Clapping is obligatory as long as Zelensky speaks!”
To be fair, “there were a few who disobeyed,” including Reps Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Lauren Boebert (R-CO), the news anchor explained. And “they found out the hard way what happens to people who don’t dare to applaud,” he said.
Within hours, Gaetz and Boebert were attacked by corporate journalists and political celebrities, who accused them of disloyalty and secretly admired Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Liberal historian and now pundit Michael Beschloss led the charge against the reps, posing the conspiratorial question to an MSNBC audience:
“Do you like Putin or are you just against democracy or is there something else?”
How many congressmen refused to attend tonight’s speech because they do not support Zelensky’s Ukraine? Important to know this and why.

“Ooh, thought crime alert,” Carlson scoffed in response. “It has been reported that you don’t applaud – explain yourself, pleb!”
“Michael Beschloss has a right to know why you feel the way you do: Do you like Putin!?”
“Why not applaud a man who banned a Christian denomination, a man who arrested priests, raided monasteries, seized churches, banned opposition media outlets, banned political parties that opposed him, banned his main political opponent in threw the prison?” Carlson.
“What they describe is the opposite of democracy,” he noted. “There is, of course, no democracy in Ukraine.”
There’s probably a reason for all the “hysteria” surrounding “two people who didn’t applaud a foreign dictator,” Carlson concluded. It’s possible that “the whole building” surrounding NATO’s proxy war in Ukraine “collapses if they allow one person to ask one reasonable question,” he said.
