As one of our favorite creators on TikTok, star of Food Network Valerie Bertinelli always puts a smile on our face. But like us, she’s not always the best at understanding the tricks of the trade. In fact, the Valerie’s Home Cooking author was super relatable when she asked fans for help making better videos.
In February, Valerie took to the social media platform to share the latest happenings from her personal life with followers. But while trying to go into detail, she ran into an important problem. She couldn’t figure out how to add more time to the clip before the app hilariously cut her off.
“I’ve got an olio of musings or thoughts or whatever I wanted to say here. Because TikTok is different from… Oh, I’m running out of time,” Valerie said, realizing her mistake. ‘Should I add – yes. I think so. hmm. So is that what’s happening? You, like, do you – how do you get yourself more time?’
Ah, poor Valerie! It was definitely a mix of emotions to see her struggle to figure out her mistake – equals laughter and shock. Luckily, her devoted fans came to the rescue, because by the time she filmed her next TikTok a few days later, she knew how to extend the length of the video.
“Thanks for all your help, everyone. Yes, I chose three minutes,” she said in the second clip before touching the screen a few times. “But here’s the deal: Why do I see people going like this all the time? To continue the time? What’s that? What’s that?”
Valerie continued: “Anyway, I forgot what my musings were. So I guess it really doesn’t matter. So I’ll be back when I have something to say. Thanks for all your help.”
LOL. Like Valerie, we honestly don’t understand the whole finger thing either. But fans offered her some theories as to why other creators might be doing this, which makes a lot of sense.
“They pause their videos to get their thoughts together or to get to the next point. It’s so they’re not wandering. Try it! You’ve got this,” one fan wrote in the comments. “Hi Valerie! They’re touching their phone because it’s getting dark and they want to be able to see themselves recording,” another commented. “They stop and start – you can pause and collect your thoughts before starting again… you are doing great and you are an inspiration 👍 😁”, replied another follower.
