A First Look at Flora’s Arrival in Season 2 of Destiny: The Winx Saga has been revealed by Netflix.
The character, who will be played by Paulina Chávez in the new season, will appear in the fantasy drama amid an overblown controversy last season over some of the casting choices.
In the clip, we see Terra (Eliot Salt) in the woods while she suspects someone is nearby, before conjuring branches while feeling threatened. However, they begin to sprout flowers when Flora appears from behind a tree.
“Miss me?” asks Flora as the two cousins hug.
When the first season was released, Flora’s absence was criticized for her prominence in the original animated series Winx Clubwith many accusing the show of money laundering.
Terra, portrayed as white, was a stand-in for her Latina cousin, while Musa, who is East Asian in the original show, is played by white actress Elisha Applebaum.
Last year, Salt addressed the controversy and expressed hope that fans would meet Flora, saying: digital spy and other media: “I think it’s very important that we see [Terra and Flora together] and if we’re lucky enough to get a season two, that’s my biggest hope.
“I think the conversations that have been going on around that have been really important and I’m really glad they happened.”

Applebaum said of her character, “It’s very sad to see fans angry at the casting. I wasn’t involved in the casting, but I hope what they saw and how I portrayed Musa was to their liking.
“I’ve only seen great reviews from them, so they were open-minded about what I made, so I hope it stays that way.”
Aisha actress Precious Mustapha praised the diversity in the series, but added that “there could be more”, saying: “I’ve always been someone who was always looking for people who resemble me on screen. That there is very little.

“The industry is getting to a point where we’re starting to see more diversity on screen, but it’s clearly not enough and there’s more work to be done.
“It’s really nice to be in a show where there’s a lot of diversity. There could be more and hopefully when we get a season two there will be a lot of them.”
Destiny: The Winx Saga season 2 will be released this fall, while season one is available to stream on Netflix.
