Just when you think Notch8 can’t top its epic afternoon tea themes of the past, another great one pops up.
The restaurant, located on the ground floor of the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, has officially launched its new tea offering: Griffin’s Gambit.
The W Georgia Street spot now welcomes guests to its fully themed tea room designed by Vancouver-based Koncept Designs to enjoy a service that pays tribute to the glorious game of chess.
Tea runs every Friday through Sunday through September 4 with seating at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
Once you’ve taken your eyes off the life-sized towers, pawns, tokens, and more that hang from the ceiling, walls, and tables, enjoy the fabulous sweet and savory treats on offer during this experience.
Tea aficionados can expect dishes such as the olive oil poached king salmon with candied orange on white bread, the chilled Fraser Valley Chicken made with queen goddess sauce and cucumber on whole wheat bread, and emperor ham, a combination of deviled egg, black truffle gelée, and chives.
And that’s just to name a few.
When it comes to sweet food, the Victoria Trifle made from vanilla sponge, cherries and pastry cream and the Jam Roly-Poly Cake are not to be missed.
Of course, the solid chocolate chess pieces are also highlights of this offer. We can’t forget the aged cheddar and buttermilk scone either. Those are heavenly.
All of these dishes can be enjoyed alongside Lot 35 tea selections, or some wine, bubbly and carefully curated tea cocktails such as the Gibson Martini.
This offer is $69 per person. View the full menu and don’t forget to make a reservation.
You can also order this spread to-go, so there are plenty of ways to say “checkmate” and get pampered this summer!
