EXCLUSIVE: Ajay Devgn Updates Superhero Movie With YRF, Unsung Warrior Franchise & Son of Sardaar 2

Ajay Devgn is gearing up for the release of his directorial Runway 34 on April 29, coinciding with the Eid festival. The Edge of the Seat drama shows him alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh and Boman Irani. In an exclusive interaction ahead of the film’s release, Devgn opened up about his upcoming projects, including some that have yet to be announced.

The actor thinks Maidaan is one of the best he’s made in his illustrious career spanning some 30 years and is looking forward to its release. Ajay confirmed that he is indeed working on a heavy VFX project, but has yet to decide whether that would be his next directing or not. When asked to comment on the magnum opus, he kept it a bit vague. “I’m working on two three things, so I don’t know. It’s too early to comment,” he laughs.

In 2020, Ajay had announced his plans to revolve a franchise around unsung warriors of Indian history. When asked to comment on this, “We are working on two three scripts, so I don’t know which one to finalize. Once we work a little more, we’ll decide. I can’t wait to get started on the next unsung warrior movie.”

Ajay is also in talks with YRF for a superhero movie. There has been widespread talk in the trade that the same has been put on the back burner. Earlier this year, however, Pinkvilla had confirmed that the film is tentatively in the pipeline and that the actor will play a super villain. Devgn confirms and keeps it short: “We are still working on the YRF film. We’ll let you know soon.” While the actor did not provide an update on the shooting schedule, our sources insist that if all goes according to plan, Shiv Rawail’s directing will hit the shelves this year.

Devgn has also been working on a possible sequel to his 2012 comedy Son of Sardaar. “We’re working on a script for the sequel, let’s see what happens,” he concludes. Watch the full video interview with Ajay Devgn below:
