Elliot Page marks milestone with passport photo: ‘Never thought I would like a passport photo’

Elliot Page seems very happy with his new passport photo.

The 35-year-old actor, who uses pronouns, shared the photo for his new passport, which is believed to reflect his correct gender identity and name change.

In the photo, the Juno star was wearing a black T-shirt over a silver necklace.

Exciting: Elliot Page gushed about his new passport photo on Sunday, because it better reflected his gender identity

Their dark hair was cut with bangs that rested in the middle of their foreheads.

The Inception actor was not smiling in the photo, which is standard for Canadian passports, as Page is born and a citizen of the country.

He captioned the snap, ‘Never thought I’d love a passport photo.’

The new passport photo marks another milestone in Page’s life since he came out as transgender in 2020.

After coming out, the star ended their relationship with their then-wife Emma Portner.

The actor is currently believed to be single after they filed legal documentation with a Manhattan court to annul their three-year marriage to 26-year-old professional dancer Emma in January 2021.

Emma “proudly” supported her partner’s decision to come out as transgender and later confirmed the couple had split up before the news was made public.

In a statement to DailyMail.com, Elliot and Emma revealed that they actually “broke up last summer,” before the actor came out as transgender, and decided to make the split official.

“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our divorce last summer,” the statement said. “We have the greatest respect for each other and remain good friends.”

Before releasing a statement, Emma and Elliot deleted all images of each other from their respective Instagram accounts in what seemed to be a very clear message about the future of their marriage.

However, Elliot and Emma still follow each other on the social media app.

In a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Elliot shared how his post-menopausal life has “improved dramatically.”

Elliot explained that he’d been thinking about “very hard times in my life, certain struggles and obstacles and stuff, and I think it ultimately deepens your empathy as you get through it.

“I think about the moments in my life when I was most uncomfortable. Where I felt the most unwell were the moments when I was most angry. And I was the most unkind to myself or self-righteous or all those things. It has drastically improved my life,” Elliot said.

He added: “I hope that people who do have a problem with me might try to hear it and embrace it on some level.”

Seth asked them how they dealt with negative reactions to their transition, although Elliot said they wanted to focus on the “measure of joy” they felt was extraordinary.

“What I want to focus on now, and which has been so extraordinary, is the degree of joy I feel, the degree of presence I feel, I feel a way that I really, for a long, long time, never thought possible, ‘ said Elliot.

“That’s really what I focus on and embrace the most. But of course the moment can be overwhelming,” Elliot continued.

They added that the negativity is, “Too bad, because we’re all on the same team here, you know if you’re trans, non-binary, gender-nonconforming CIS, we all have these expectations and these kind of limits and restrictions because of us, kind of people’s obsession with the binary number and how we should all live our lives.

“To me it would be so special for us to connect with each other and talk about how similar we are in all our travels,” she added.

Since he came out, his character on Netflix’s Umbrella Academy has also transitioned.
