Earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hits China

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale shook present-day Akchi County in northwestern China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The China Earthquake Networks Center said – in a statement reported by the “Xinhua” news agency – that the earthquake’s epicenter was tracked at the confluence of latitude 40.88 north and 78.14 degrees east, with a depth of 10 km.
