Disney+ Confirms New Exclusive Shows and Movies Coming to UK and Ireland in 2022/23 – What’s On Disney Plus

Disney has announced some new details about upcoming movies and series that will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland in 2022-23, including the psychological thriller “The Patient” starring Steve Carell and Domhnall Gleeson, “Fleishman is in Trouble,” based on the New York Times bestseller and starring Jesse Eisenberg, Lizzy Caplan, Claire Danes, and Adam Brody; and “Welcome to Chippendales” starring Kumail Nanjiani. These titles will be part of an exclusive lineup of new high-quality adult entertainment on Disney+, including star-studded dramas, laugh-out-loud comedies, eye-catching documentaries and endless hit movies.

The highly anticipated “Welcome to Wrexham” docuseries from Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds will hit Disney+ on August 25, and more exclusive series will premiere over the next 12 months, including “Mike” from the team behind “I, Tonya “, “The Old Man” with Jeff Bridges, John Lithgow, Amy Brenneman and Alia Shawkat and “Limitless with Chris Hemsworth”. The next 12 months will also see British originals, including “Wedding Season”, “Extraordinary” and docuseries “Save Our Squad” will be added to the must-have lineup, as well as new seasons of “American Horror Stories” (Season 2) and “Reservation Dogs” (Season 2) coming soon.

Exciting brand new movies making their debut this year include “The Princess” starring Joey King on July 1, “Not Okay” on July 29, “Prey”, an all-new film in the “Predator” franchise on August 5, and “Rosaline” with Kaitlyn Dever later this year.

Here’s a rundown of some of the titles coming to Disney+ next year:

FX

“Welcome to Wrexham” is a docuseries that follows the dreams and people of Wrexham as two Hollywood stars (Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds) take ownership of the town’s historic but struggling football club.

The riveting new drama series “The Old Man” will be released exclusively on Disney+ this fall. Based on Thomas Perry’s bestseller of the same name, starring Jeff Bridges, John Lithgow, Amy Brenneman and Alia Shawkat, it centers on Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges), who went into hiding from the CIA decades ago and has lived off the net ever since. When a hit man arrives and tries to take out Chase, the old cop learns that he must now reconcile his past to secure his future.

Exclusive to FX’s Disney+ is “Fleishman is in Trouble”, adapted by Taffy Brodesser-Akner from her New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Lizzy Caplan, Claire Danes and Adam Brody, directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (“Little Miss Sunshine”, “Ruby Sparks”, “Battle of the Sexes”).

Disney+ will also be home to the psychological thriller “The Patient”, about a therapist, Alan Strauss (Steve Carell), who is held by a patient, and Sam Fortner (Domhnall Gleeson), who reveals himself as a serial killer. The show was co-written by executive producers Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg (“The Americans”).

Disney+ also joins the adult animation “Little Demon” starring Aubrey Plaza as the voice of Laura, who, after being impregnated by Satan (voiced by Danny DeVito), tries to live a normal life in Delaware with her Antichrist daughter, but is constantly thwarted by monstrous forces.


DISNEY TELEVISION STUDIOS

A wide variety of titles will premiere on Disney+ in the coming months, including the limited series “Mike” from showrunner Karin Gist, creator/screenwriter Steven Rogers and the team behind “I, Tonya”. Produced by 20th Television, a division of Disney Television Studios, the show tells the story of the dynamic and controversial life of boxing icon Mike Tyson, starring Trevante Rhodes.

Also coming to Disney+, produced by 20th Television, is the romantic comedy series “Maggie” starring Rebecca Rittenhouse and “Welcome to Chippendales,” an eight-episode limited-edition series starring Kumail Nanjiani, who plays Somen “Steve” Banerjee, the Indian-American entrepreneur who started Chippendales. Kumail Nanjiani and Robert Siegel (“Pam & Tommy”) serve as executive producers.

The third season of “Solar Opposites”, co-created by Justin Roiland (“Rick and Morty”) and Mike McMahan (“Rick and Morty”, “Star Trek: Lower Decks”), comes to Disney+ on July 13 and centers on a team of four aliens who are evenly split on whether Earth is terrible or awesome. Korvo (Justin Roiland) and Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone) see only the pollution, gross consumerism and human frailty, while Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and Jesse (Mary Mack) love TV, junk food and fun things. In season three, this alien team strives to be less of a team and more of a family. 20th Television Animation is producing the series.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHICAL

National Geographic’s new groundbreaking series and documentaries include “Limitless with Chris Hemsworth,” “Dance the World with Derek Hough,” “Extraordinary Birder” with Christian Cooper and “Farming is Life” with Indy Srinath. Additionally, the new docuseries “Science Fair: The Series,” based on the Sundance Festival favorite and SXSW Audience Award-winning documentary, follows the pain and ecstasy of the beloved and bright teen subculture of competitive science.

20th CENTURY STUDIOS AND SEARCHLIGHT PHOTOS

In the coming months, Disney+ will welcome a number of movies launching exclusively, including 20th Century Studios’ “The Princess” on July 1, starring Joey King as a beautiful, strong-willed princess who refuses to marry the cruel sociopath she’s betrothed to. is kidnapped and imprisoned in a remote tower of her father’s castle. Searchlight Pictures’ “Not Okay” launches on July 29, a satire that follows an aimless, ambitious writer (Zoey Deutch) who mimics an Instagram-friendly trip to Paris in hopes of increasing her social media influence, but unknowingly in a lie that is greater than she ever imagined.

Also confirmed as coming to Disney+ is “Rosaline,” a fresh comedic twist on Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet,” with the classic love story now told from the perspective of Juliet’s niece Rosaline, who also happens to be Romeo’s recent love interest. The film stars Kaitlyn Dever in the lead role and is directed by Karen Maine.

UK ORIGINALS

Seven UK Original series have been announced coming to Disney+ for subscribers to enjoy, including “Wedding Season”, a genre-breaking action thriller romance about two people who shouldn’t be together but can’t stay apart, and new comedy “Extraordinary” from the production company behind “Killing Eve” tells the story of Jen, who lives in a world where everyone has a superpower…except her.

Ben Taylor (“Sex Education”, “Catastrophe”) joins as director and executive producer for episodes 1 and 2 of the new swashbuckling action and adventure series “The Ballad of Renegade Nell” from BAFTA award-winning writer and executive producer Sally Wainwright (” Gentleman Jack”, “Happy Valley”) and David Beckham will be featured on Disney+ as he mentors a struggling young grassroots soccer team, in the docuseries “Save Our Squad”.

There’s also the darkly funny series “Culprits”, about the aftermath of a robbery, with an exciting cast that includes Gemma Arterton, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Niamh Algar and Eddie Izzard and the epic new action-adventure series, “Nautilus” , starring Shazad Latif and Richard E. Grant, will tell the origin story of Jules Verne’s most iconic character, Captain Nemo, and his legendary submarine. “The Full Monty” also returns as a brand new limited series from the makers of the original British hit comedy film, nearly twenty-five years later.
