Dhaakad box office collection: Kangana Ranaut’s film sells 20 tickets and collects Rs 4420 on day 8

Kangana Ranaut-star action movie Dhakad had the dubious honor of collecting just Rs 4,420 on the eighth day of its theatrical journey and selling just 20 tickets nationwide. These numbers are according to Bollywood Hungama. That the film was a disaster was apparent from day one itself. Overall, Dhaakad has earned around Rs 3 crore, continuing Kangana’s long run of under-rated box office performance.

Dhaakad reportedly cost between Rs 80 crore to Rs 90 crore to make, and according to a separate Bollywood Hungama report, it is struggling to find streaming distribution as the producers failed to crack the deals before release.

Dhaakad, directed by Razneesh Ghai, also stars Arjun Rampal, Divya Dutta and Saswata Chatterjee. Dhaakad received mixed reviews, but moviegoers seem to have given the film a full pass.

The horror comedy sequel Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which was released simultaneously with Dhaakad, has made a huge profit. At the time of writing, it is about to exceed Rs 100 crore. A sequel to the 2007 film, directed by Anees Bazmee, stars Kartik Aaryan, Tabu and Kiara Advani.

The Indian Express film critic Shalini Langer gave Dhaakad 3.5 stars. She concluded the review by saying: “The simple, straight forward storyline is that Agni became a cop after a shocking childhood incident when her parents were gunned down by a man she has a vague memory of. Now she’s leading the investigation of the Agency to a people-smuggling ring that runs from central India and reaches as far as Budapest (which keeps cropping up as Bhopal’s backyard) and a sheikh with Middle Eastern origins.”
