Colin Trevorrow Responds to T-Rex Criticism – The Hollywood Reporter

[This story contains spoilers for Jurassic World: Dominion.]

Jurassic World: Dominion director Colin Trevorrow went to work for his Tyrannosaurus rex on Saturday after a Twitter user claimed the dino was no longer getting the respect it deserved in the franchise.

In lordshipwhich opened last weekend for #1, a Therizinosaurus and a Tyrannosaurus rex team up to kill the ultimate evil dino, a Giganotosaurus. In the epic battle scene towards the end of the film, everything seemed to be lost after the T-Rex appeared to have been killed. But, for real Jurassic Park fashion, her eye opened and it was on. The T-Rex and Therizinosaurus proceed to kill the Giga.

This was a great moment for most fans, but clearly not for everyone.

Actor Angel Rosario Jr. tweeted in Trevorrow that he thought the T-Rex was the second banana in the… Jurassic Park telling stories, which according to Rosario was not right.

“Hey, @colintrevorrow… you made the Rex look weak. Again. Come on! It is the face of the franchise. Terrible. The Giga may have been strong, but science proves that the Rex was a better and stronger predator. Very disappointed in your use of Rexy. #JurassicWorldDominion,” read Rosario’s post.

The director responded. And it was perfect.

“I understand the feeling. It’s worth noting that the T. Rex had an average lifespan of 28 years, so our Rexy would be near the end of her life in Dominion. Even at that age, she found the strength to stand up and avenge her own death, 65 million years later. Sometimes revenge takes time,” Trevorrow said on Twitter.

Rosario seemed excited about the back and forth.

“Got a response from the amazing @colintrevorrow about lordship† Though conflicting arguments about the Rex… as an actor, I’d love to work with you on a project, sir. Respect and admiration for your work, sir. I hope we can talk about it face to face someday! #JurassicWorldDominion,” he wrote.

Jurassic World: Dominion is now in cinemas.
